An Open Letter about our future

Dear You and Our Future,

Imagine a ship. Now think of everything that goes into making sure that ship doesn't sink.
Naval architects spend a large amount of time carefully creating a design that is both suitable and unique for the ship to function.

Along with this ship, other ships go through test and trials to make sure life, or goods, are able to be safely transported within.
These trials are put into practice right up until the ship is ready to go fulfill its purpose, which is sailing without sinking.
With the guidance of the captain and crew members, a ship is able to do just that.

So why can’t we? We were first crafted and then built an immunity.
Not only to sickness, but for the trials we would face leading up to our departure from home.

We were born to grow up, to face difficulties, to live.

From preschool, to elementary school, middle school, and high school,
our whole life is just one giant design that builds upon itself.
This design makes sure we are ready to fulfill our purpose and function as adults.

Like this ship we thought of earlier, we are trusted to not sink, to be successful.
This is why we need a steady crew, or a steady group of companions,
so that when we come close to sinking we are able to withstand the strong current.

These waves will not crash into us, we will crash into them.
We will tackle whichever university we attend full force.
At that university we are so close to fulfilling our purpose, one stretch away from the port.
Our past has looked upon this moment and our future depends upon it.

Knowledge has been engraved into us and will be picked apart when we finally
graduate university, grow older, become adults, and find our career.
So close yet so far.

At this point the strong currents may come back, this time of fear, fear of adulthood.
However, we eventually use our compass, or Google Maps, and find our way.

We then make it, we literally started from the bottom and here we are, as adults.
As scary as it is, our whole lives have been carefully created for this moment, and we ARE fulfilling our purpose.
We HAVE NOT sunk, we HAVE reached the port.

Sincerely,
A Teenager
